  2. Identify at least one change that is currently proposed related to licensure in psychology in Texas
  3. Identify three strategies to get more involved in legislative and advocacy efforts for psychology in Texas

 

Megan A. Mooney, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist who specializes in working with children and families. Dr. Mooney’s undergraduate degree is from Vanderbilt University and her doctorate degree is from the University of Arkansas. She completed her internship in professional psychology with the Baylor College of Medicine Menninger Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. Dr. Mooney is currently an Assistant Professor in the Trauma and Grief Center for Youth at UTHealth Sciences Center at Houston. She also serves as adjunct faculty for the Baylor College of Medicine Menninger Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. Dr. Mooney’s areas of interest include childhood trauma, LGBTQ youth, and psychological assessment.  She carries an active caseload of therapy clients and has presented locally and nationally about trauma and treatments for trauma in children and families.  Dr. Mooney is a member of the Houston Psychological Association (HPA), the Texas Psychological Association (TPA), and the American Psychological Association (APA). She is currently a TPA Board Member and TPA Grassroots Committee Chair. Dr. Mooney also serves on the TPA Legislative Committee and is the Legislative Liaison between TPA and HPA.
